ㆍCurex is cure and adhesion accelerating plastic masterbatches which are added to lamination
films during the manufacture of the films to achieve rapid cure of laminating adhesives.
ㆍCurex will speed up the cure of polyurethane adhesives much faster and/or more complete,
with various advantages to the converter and the end-user.
ㆍOnly 2-3% Curex masterbatches is required to obtain the benefits described below.
There are special grades for PE ,PP and PA films. Curex works with both cast and oriented
films. Curex acts as a FUNCTIONAL BARRIER for laminating adhesives in flexible laminates,
enabling Converters to comply with FDA regulation § 21 CFR 175.105

ㆍIt is well known from technical datasheet that most polyurethane adhesives need 8-10 days
for full chemical cure, during which time the adhesive is under the influence of moisture,
temperature, printing inks, slip additives and other film additives. Curex masterbatches offer
rapid cure, which helps to reduce these problems and thus offers a number of advantages in
lamination and converting, depending on the type of adhesive used. Curex masterbatches will
have an effect with all NCO terminated polyurethane adhesives, both solvent free and solvent
based. They are less effective with OH-terminated polyurethane adhesives.

ㆍNo telescoping.
ㆍLess piping (tunnelling) in connection with bad rolls or several ink layers.
ㆍAllows higher running speeds due to broader choice of adhesives.
ㆍAllows choice of adhesives with longer pot life.
ㆍOffers faster quality control.
ㆍThe fast quality control is also a control of treatment of lamination films in connection with
    solvent free adhesives.
ㆍSaves intermediate storage space and staff by less intermediate handling and transport between
    production stages.
ㆍLess rejected orders due to better curing condit ions.
ㆍLess capital needed due to faster lead times.
ㆍIn general upgrading of the lamination quality.

ㆍVery fast curing of laminates, permitting slitting in 3-4 hours.
ㆍDelivery in 24-48 hours after lamination.
ㆍFaster aromatic amine decay.
ㆍFaster reach of US and EU migration limits.
ㆍProtection against anti-seal effect.
ㆍLess sensitivity to loss of slip.
ㆍFaster quality control of bonds and heat seals.
ㆍMuch faster lead time for solvent free laminates.
ㆍLess sensitivity to retained alcohols from difficult printing jobs.
ㆍGeneral upgrading of lamination quality for most polyurethane adhesives.
ㆍCurex is a low cost insurance against most of the quality variations in converting

ㆍCurex PE 50 - Cure and adhesion accelerator for polyethylene films
ㆍCurex PP 50 - Cure accelerator for polypropylene films

ㆍMajor variations between filmstructures for non-Curex laminates.
ㆍOnly minor variations between filmstructures for Curex-laminates.
ㆍBased on combination of Curex and specific adhesives. Adhesive suppliers can be referred to.
ㆍThe above information is based on a vararity of lamination-trials as well as interviews
by users and non-users of Curex Masterbatches.
ㆍNew BGvV test : 0,2 mygr/100ml
ㆍSome filmstructures take even longer time.
